September Mists and Melancholy

Tomorrow, I’ve been invited by fellow Leiceter Chapter member and friend Katherine Garbera to blog with the fabulous Jaunty Quills,  and the post’s going to be about September – a time of all that ‘mists and mellow fruitfulness’ stuff, but also a sad and somewhat backward-looking time for my family. Without going into details, I was typically feeling a bit gloomy as September began but then this lovely 5* review popped up on Amazon and everything looked more positive and shiny. So, whoever you are – thanks! here’s a happy  autumnal picture to go with it, taken at my lovely friends The Theakstons’ house in the Lot in the depths of autumnal France  – more on tomorrow’s blog:

What a lovely read.
A debut novel that involves love, a delightful selection of characters and chocolate – Scrumptious!
I felt like I had made friends with a whole new bunch of people and I was sad to say goodbye to them at the end. I took a real shine to George, he added a great deal to the story and did a brilliant job bringing out the best in the other characters.
The story flowed really well, a lovely style of writing that had a light touch even when dealing with more serious issues. There are some great touches of humour throughout the book too, which made me smile a lot.
As for the cafe – I’m keeping my fingers crossed this was for real!
